The 2UUL FD21 is a “Big-K” knife-style soldering tip, specifically engineered for tasks that require strong heat transfer and wider surface contact. Unlike very fine tips used for tiny components, this tip has a broader blade (around 4.0 mm), allowing it to deliver heat efficiently across larger areas such as CPU pads, connectors, and shielding plates.
It is made from high-quality oxygen-free copper with durable coating, which ensures excellent thermal conductivity and long service life. This design allows the tip to heat up quickly and maintain stable temperature during use, which is important when working on components that require consistent heat to avoid damage.
The FD21 is especially popular for “tin dragging” (drag soldering) techniques. In this method, the technician applies flux and then drags the tip across multiple pins or pads, allowing solder to spread evenly. The knife-edge shape makes it easy to control solder flow and prevents uneven joints or cold solder connections.
Because of its wide contact area, this tip is also highly effective for reworking large connectors, removing metal shields, repairing battery terminals, and handling high thermal mass components. It provides uniform heating, reducing the need to keep the tip on the board for too long, which helps protect sensitive PCB layers
